The Latest News
About a week ago I considered complaining about our strange, out-of-the-blue, hot-hot weather we've been having the last couple of weeks, but then felt very silly about that when I took into consideration that I have an old friend living in Florida facing the possibility of having yet a third hurricane hit her state.
Then it hit me -- almost literally, in fact -- an earthquake in my backyard (I'm not exaggerating here; seriously, the epicenter was less than a mile from my house). And then I remembered that the weather does strange things right before earthquakes, and that explained a little bit. Not to say that hot weather is strange in these parts -- far from it. But the whole summer has been nice and warm and not too hot, and then all of a sudden in September we started getting very heavy, almost unbearably hot, 3-digit degree weather. It may have been a small earthquake (only a 3.4), but when it's that close it sure as hell feels like none other you've ever been through.
Now there's the very latest news -- my niece Valerie is pregnant!! As Dave would say, they know what causes that now. haha :-) Seriously, though, I'm so excited for her, but it does just make me wish even more than usual that we lived closer to each other!! This is the most recent picture of my nieces (from left to right) Stephanie & Valerie. Congratulations, Valerie!! We all love you!
Alright, I guess that's all the news for now. Keep in touch!
